The next door he knocked on he said “Hello Mrs. Jones I’m Marty McTewfor the Snake Oil salesman and today is your lucky day, it’s Tuesday or as I like to call it ‘2 for 1 day’ and that means you get 2 bottles for the price of 1!” Well sure enough Marty McTewfor had 2x the sales of the previous Monday and thus started the marketing legend of Marty “Tewfor” Tuesday. After word of his successful 2 for the price of 1 marketing scheme got around soon dime stores were having 2 for the price of 1 sales every Tuesday on candy and makeup, window companies had 2 for 1 sales, hamburger joints had 2 burgers for the price of 1, and radio stations played 2 songs in a row by the same artist every Tuesday from then upto today. If you visit Farrington Cemetery in Oklahoma city today you will see 2 very large gravestones side by side that both read “Here lies Marty McTewfer, he bought this plot and stone on Tuesday so he got the other free”. True story!! I read it on the Internet!
